G.R.L.'s "Ugly Heart" - Single Review

G.R.L. are preparing for their airwave domination this summer. After experiencing a complete shake up in their original line up and a feature on Pitbull's moderately successful "Wild Wild love", the five-piece girl group are setting the Internet ablaze with the release of their official debut single, the intriguing, girl power anthem "Ugly Heart".

Initially marketed as a reincarnation of The Pussycat Dolls, the girls of G.R.L. are showing everyone their talents without the need of the prior name association. Each one of the members, Lauren, Simone, Paula, Natasha and Emmalyn, give impressive vocal performances on the new addictive pop track. "Ok you're pretty, you're face is a work of art, your smile could light up New York City after dark," they sing on a chorus which should not have a problem dominating radio in the coming weeks.

With strumming guitars, catchy production, beautiful vocals and sing-along worthy lyrics, "Ugly Heart" is a glorious effort that will turn heads in the girls' direction. Yes, the songwriting may not win any awards in the future, but the girls bring the revengeful pop track to life on the fierce, radio-ready finished product. What sets the song apart from the rest of the current pop overload contenders is ALL five members get their chance to shine and do not disappoint.

The accompanying music video is just as hot as the song as it showcases the gorgeous ladies committing a crime against the handsome love interest with an unfortunately ugly heart. There is attitude, spot on lip-syncing and a sickening dance sequence. It's the perfect reintroduction to the extremely talented G.R.L.

"Ugly Heart" is a unique, insanely addictive tune that will be hard to escape. It is something fresh, fun and original, with great vocals to take it to the next level. Try and not keep this song on repeat. So good!
