Madonna's "Living For Love" - Song Review

   Bitch...she's Madonna.

After the premature leak of 13 unfinished demos rumored to be pulled from the early stages of her upcoming thirteenth studio album (a.k.a. a form of "artistic rape" or an act of terrorism), Queen of Pop Madonna worked hard and rushed to give her patient fans (not this blogger) an early Christmas gift by releasing six official tracks from the anticipated album, now titled Rebel Heart, on iTunes very early this morning as part of the effort's pre-order promotion.

Madonna's new album won't hit shelves and retailers until March 10, 2015, but eager listeners can get their hands on a couple of new songs including "Ghosttown", "Bitch I'm Madonna (feat. Nicki Minaj)", "Unapologetic Bitch" and the album's rumored first single "Living For Love". Though only a portion of the 19-track album have been revealed, critics have already sang praise for the project, calling it Madonna's best work and a welcomed return to proper form.

If "Living For Love" is still set to be the album's official lead single, it might be the right move for the iconic pop artist. Madonna usually fumbles when it comes to her project's lead offerings (we've all tried to forget the mess that was "Give Me All Your Luvin'"), but this new rumored single is worth all the wait and buzz that has surrounded the new album for the past year. "First you loved me then I let you in, made me feel I was born again," Madonna sings on the opening line of the house, gospel, trap-sounding experimental track.

The lead single is a solid release for the pop queen, although the leaked demo version is a tad bit stronger than the finished version. "Living For Love", the official audio, is weighed down by loud production which overshadows Madonna's always impressive vocals. The breakdown heard through the track is unnecessary, the choir background has been overdone (recently by the Grammy-nominated Sam Smith), but it is nice to hear the artist not releasing material that simply tries to jump on all the new trends. This sounds raw, organic, fresh and personal. It is worthy of the queen and her best release since early 2004.

... and if you need more clues as to the direction Madonna is taking her upcoming Rebel Heart, be sure to listen to the recently released "Ghosttown" and "Bitch I'm Madonna (feat. Nicki Minaj)" below.
